NYCHA Public Housing Application Process 

 Income Requirements: Your household income must fall within the specified limits for your family size. Family Composition: Must meet family composition guidelines (single adults may qualify). Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or have eligible immigration status. Other Requirements: No previous record of eviction from public housing for drug-related criminal activity.

Check Eligibility 

 Proof of identity (ID, birth certificates, etc.) Proof of income (pay stubs, tax returns, etc.) Social Security numbers for all household member Immigration status documents (if applicable)

Gather Necessary Documents

Online: Visit the NYCHA self-service portal at NYCHA Apply. In Person: Visit a NYCHA Walk-In Center or Application Office. By Mail: Request an application form by calling the Customer Contact Center at (718) 707-7771, fill it out, and mail it back.

Complete the Application

Make sure the information is accurate and complete before submitting

Submit the Application: 

NYCHA will review your application and may request additional documentation or information. You'll be placed on a waiting list if you meet the eligibility requirements.

Application Review

Once your application reaches the top of the waiting list, NYCHA will contact you to schedule an eligibility interview.
